White Rock Post Office

The White Rock Post Office originally had it's own zip code, 87546. White Rock is part of Los Alamos, NM and had has the same zip as the rest of the county.

Polyanna at the Library

Statue outside the front doors of the Mesa Public Library is called Pollyanna.

Ridgeview Vet

Took Old Man Tucker (the wonder dog) to Ridgeview for a check up. For a 12 yr old large breed dog, he's doing as well as can be expected. A lot of time, money, and love put into remodeling this building into a state of the art veterinary hospital. [To the right, in the back ground, is the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter. ]

Mesa View

View of one of the mesas on way to Española, NM showing various layers found in the Española Badlands or Barrancas. Layers were probably deposited  before the Rio Grande became the flowing river and are loaded with volcanic ash from various area volcanic eruptions along the Rio Grande Rift.

CB Fox

CB Fox has been in the same location in Los Alamos for 48 years selling everything from clothing, to furniture, to luggage.

Pizza Time

Time Out Pizzeria in White Rock is located in a former McDonald's. Pretty good pizza and also has game room with pool tales and air hockey. In the background you can see an old Pizza Hut which has been closed many years and building is for sale..

Basalt Cliffs of White Rock Canyon

Basalt volcanic cliffs on edge of White Rock Canyon. In the area called "hell's hole" by local teens, it's steeper and deeper than it looks in this picture. [I stand corrected. "Hell's Hole" is a cave in the sides of this steep canyon.]

Ski Area is FINALLY OPEN!!!!

Pajarito Mountain ski area, just outside Los Alamos (about 13 miles from my house), is finally open. PM was to have snow making capabilities this year until the new reservoir had to be drained due to a leak caused by ice. {I never caught the ski bug and have not been in several years.)
